The 230 metres tall Hercseg-mountain, another witness-mountain, came to existence as a result.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Viniculture on volcanic soil dates back to the Roman Empire. According to certain documents, the municipality was built on a former Roman settlement, called Bassiana. This is undermined by the fact that remnants of the former Roman amphitheatre can be found at the eastern border of the municipality. Some assume that a brook called B\u00f6l\u00f6nt might have nourished a Roman spa and the healing power of its sulphurous waters has been well known for a long time. The former Baroque and Romantic castle now functions as a hotel.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chapel of Sitke \u2013 On the hill bordering the municipality, the so-called K\u00f6ves, a calvary-chapel was built in 1871. S\u00e1ndor Fels\u0151b\u00fcki- Nagy I., and his wife, Ter\u00e9z Weidgang, the owners of the castle at that time made it to be built using only their own financial means. On 14 February 1872, it was inaugurated. The small, neo-gothic chapel was built with high bastions, it has a vestibule and two stump towers made of sandstone.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The vestibule is surrounded by a stone-wall and has four gates with iron grids. Its tower was struck by lightning, the furniture was carried away and both the original plans and contemporary coins hidden in the wall were stolen.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reconstruction works began in 1986, when Fec\u00f3 Bal\u00e1zs, a pop musician from Budapest, organised the Sitke Chapel Cultural Association, which he chaired for many years.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The artist organised concerts and profits were used to finance the reconstruction.
